Father CJ's Weekly Update
January 09, 2025
Dear St. Mary’s Parishioners,
I hope this early Eblast finds you well in the New Year. Just a few items to share with you:
- This weekend we celebrate The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord and officially end the Christmas Season. We wish to thank every person who volunteered in any way to make Christmas so memorable at St. Mary’s.
- Memorial Mass for Elisabeth Becker: It is with great sadness that our organist, Dr Klaus Becker, has lost his mom. We will remember her on Monday, January 13th at 6:30pm, at our Novena Mass. All are welcome to attend.
- Reminder there is no 5:30pm Faith Formation Mass this Sunday Jan. 12th. The remaining Masses for the year are: January 26, February 2 and 23, March 2, 16, 23 and 30, April 6 and 27th.
- Sunday Missal for Young Catholics: A reminder to families with young children that we now have a Missal designed for Young Catholics which you can find as you enter the side parking lot entrance of the church. We encourage parents to have their children use this modern missal which hopefully will be a welcome addition to weekend Mass and helpful in following along with the readings. At the end of Mass, please return the Missal to the table where you found it. In addition, each weekend we offer a children’s activity sheet that young children are welcome to take.
- Third Friday January 17th, 7am Mass followed by St. Joseph Society Meeting: Men of the parish are invited to attend Mass and join the meeting in the Parish Center after Mass. Guest speaker is Attorney John Harding.
- Springfield Thunderbirds Faith and Family Night: Saturday January 26th, Game Time 7pm. See attached flyer for ticket purchase information. Students from St Mary’s Academy will be singing the National Anethum prior to the kickoff of the game.
- Jubilee Year 2025: This weekend you will find the Bishop’s Letter on page 3 in the bulletin explaining what a Jubilee Year is and how it affects our local diocese and parish. More information on the Jubilee Year coming from the pulpit soon.
New Year Blessings,
Fr. CJ
